This Blog Page is perfect for making announcements and writing about things that interest you. You can connect with your visitors on a more personal level and keep them in the loop about what you’re up to. A blog also helps with your website’s SEO, which increases the likelihood of visitors finding you from search engine results. Learn more.

Blogs in Squarespace are organized in a two-part hierarchy: Blog Pages and then individual blog posts. Bedford displays multiple posts in a blog list, which can show the full post or short excerpts. Clicking on a post title or thumbnail opens the individual blog post in its own page.

You can delete this page or replace it with your own content by clicking on the Blog Page in the Pages panel. You should replace all demo content (images, copy, etc.) in the template with your own to really make your mark on the web. Learn more about how demo content works here.

You can also add multiple Blog Pages to your site. For example, you may want to keep corporate news separate from more personal updates.

Why Deserts Matter Too

Bring attention to certain blog posts by using the Featured Posts option. In Bedford, the date, title, and thumbnail image of the five most recently published Featured Posts display as a slideshow in the banner area.

Whether you’ve already published a post or are about to write a new one, any post can be turned into a Featured Post. To do this, go to the Pages panel and click on a Blog Page. Select the post you want to edit and click the Edit button. Then, click the Options tab and check Featured Post at the bottom of the Blog Post Editor. The Options tab also lets you upload a thumbnail image, which is used as a banner image. Once you’re done, click Save. If the thumbnail image, date, and post title do not appear in the banner, simply click the Refresh button in your browser. Learn more.

By default, each blog post in Bedford displays the date, title, and categories above the post. Tags, comment links, and the Like and Share buttons appear below the post.

Use the Blog section of the Style Editor to display the blog author, to set the date, category, or author above the post title, or to hide the footer metadata in blog list view.

Each Blog Page in Bedford can have its own customizable sidebar. To add the sidebar, uncheck Hide Blog Sidebar in the Sidebar section of the Style Editor.

Similar to Regular Pages, you can add content blocks, like the Gallery Block below, to any blog post. Just click an Insert Point and select the appropriate block from the Block Menu. For more detailed steps, visit Adding blocks with Insert Points.
